Thanks to Republic Act No. 10172, a correction of the entry on sex/gender can be filed in the local civil registrar where you were born.
As part of the requirements, you need to present a medical certificate from a government doctor that states you did not undergo any sex change or transplant.
The petition needs to be published in a newspaper of general circulation. According to the IRR, the owner of the document shall personally file the petition before the local civil registrar. The filing fee for this petition is P3000.

Please request from your LCR a breakdown of expenses. The law prescribes a filing fee of PHP 3,000.00 for administrative correction of gender. This said, our local civil registrar’s have a wide berth of discretion to impose such fees as they may deem fit, subject also to the ordinances which the local government might pass. Paki-tanong na lang kung kasama na sa PHP 8,000.00 yung publication. Kailangan mo din ng medical certification of gender.

Mga ilang buwan din po ang itatagal nito. Dahil pagdecide po ng civil registrar, nirereview pa po ito ng NSO.

According to the Implementing Rules and Regulations, ang pwede lang po mag-file ng correction for change of gender, ay yung mismong may ari ng dokumento.

We’ve reviewed the law plus the rules and regulations. You really need to file the petition personally, and at the place where you were born.

Kung wala pong nakaupong civil registrar sa place of birth ninyo, kailangan pong i-file ito sa korte.
Ask ko lang po, mayroon bang listahan ng mga newspapers na pwede magpa published? Magkano po ang bayad? And after ma published, how long ma correct yung entry? Btw, my problem is Gender.

Sana po ay madala po ninyo ang birth certificate ninyo sa amin para mapag-aralan po namin. baka po pwede pang icorrect ito at hindi na kailangan ipa-cancel sa court, at kailanganin ng abogado.

hi, yung baby po was born in london. filipino ang both parents. umuwi po sila dto. kaka 1 year old lang ng baby. nung nakuha ang report of birth, female nkalagay instead of male. and misspelled pa ang birthplace of mother. what is the process please? thanks.

Hindi naman po aabutin ng taon. Kadalasan, naapprove po yan at least 3 months from filing.

Depende po kasi kung papayagan po itong i-correct sa level ng munisipyo or city hall. Kung hindi po, kailangan na itong i-file sa korte.

Depende po yan sa lugar kung saan kayo ipinanganak. ang pag fifile po ng petition ay 3000 pesos at ang publication fee ay umaabot sa 2000 pesos pag sa Metro Manila. Kadalasan mas mataas ang publication fee sa mga probinsya.
